One of the lesser known things to do in Kimberley, golf enthusiasts can enjoy 18 holes of uninterrupted golfing at Kimberley Golf Club. Opened in 1890, this popular golf course in Kimberley is steeped in history and offers a challenging course for guests visiting Flamingo Casino. With its par-72 card rating, Kimberley Golf Course extends over semi-desert terrain creating a dramatic golfing experience for professional and amateur golfers.
A South African golfing legacy
Famed for being one of the oldest golf courses in South Africa, Kimberley Golf Club is famed for hosting the very first South African Championships in 1892. The golf club is now home to the Barney Barnato Golf Tournament, which is held annually in October, as well as the Father and Son Tournament which incorporates the Africa Father and Son Championship. Golfing enthusiasts can access the course’s 128-year history at the Freddie Tait Golf Museum, housed inside the Kimberley Golf Club.
With its championship golf course and close proximity to Flamingo Casino, Kimberley Golf Course is the ideal location for golfing holidays in the Northern Cape. Golf clubs and carts
are available for hire should you want to play a round but don’t have your kit with you.
Sun International supports the Government’s call for a 21 day national lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19. To prepare our systems for the shutdown, all of our South African casinos will be closed from 4pm Tuesday 24 March, and our hotels and resorts will be closed from Wednesday 25 March. The lockdown will end on Friday 17 April 2020.
We appeal to all South Africans to heed the President’s call to stay home during this time.
