Zanotti’s historic #StrokeOfGenius

In the 2016 Nedbank Golf Challenge, hosted by Gary Player, Paraguay’s Fabrizio Zanotti produced a shot that was not only a #StrokeofGenius but also an historic moment in the history of “Africa’s Major”.

Zanotti aced the par-three fourth hole, which was also the first hole-in-one ever recorded since the start of the tournament in 1981.

It was a perfect seven iron that Gary Player believes was made even better by the structure of this hole.

“The layout of the fourth hole is water in front of the green. If you miss the green right you’re really in great difficulty. The wind comes through that little valley there which always makes it more difficult. It’s hard to read the wind. It has a great effect on the shot. But from a high, elevated tee, the shot goes higher, so it stops quicker. So one is inclined to attack that pin,” explained Player.
